Hat A in the hat series... on a cube. There are a few of these amusing studies of mood and moment, which accounts for the alphabetical titles.
The gesso is applied in one coat with no sanding so the texture of the canvas is raised. This gives the small painting some added depth.

Driving along Cave's Road in southwest of Western Australia there is a cathedral of trees, Karri wood trees, they shed their bark like a woman can shed her coverings. This is one of the Karri paintings.
The whisper of the wind in the leaves and branches talking with the sun, are the words written in the background of the painting.

Here is the first, the very first blog posting of a painting a day. I mean, posting it each day!
I easily see that Van Dongen seems to have been channeling through on this GLAMOUROUS LIFE OF AN ARTIST painting- Red Dress. (silk crepe de chine) That is what she is wearing. (I ...am in waffle thermal underwear and fleece pants... in splatters of paint pattern. Elegant. but I always wear earrings!)
